Nature Valley Grand Prix – Stage 2 – Cannon Falls Road Race
The Cannon Falls stage greeted everyone with amazing weather given the history of strong cross winds the last few years. Instead it was a just calm, sunny day in the Minnesota countryside.
Nature Valley Grand Prix – Stage 1 – Saint Paul Lowertown Criterium
Well it was a wet day for photography in Saint Paul. Both the men’s and women’s events ended up having the stage nullified for general classification purposes with the men not evening finishing their race.
Minnesota Fixed Gear Classic
Today was the second day of the MN Fixed Gear Classic, part of the Great River Energy Bike Festival. The first night of racing saw 2008 Italian Olympic hopeful Roberto Chiappa break US Olympic Gold Medalist Marty Nothstein’s 200 meter track record in a new time of 10.575 seconds. Today spectators were treated with lots of speed from both the men’s and women’s fields as the overall omniums were decided.
With the points tallied Colleen Hayduk (Kutztown Inn/Bicycling World) won the women’s omnium while Emile Abraham (Trinidad/Tobago National Team/Team Type 1) winning the men’s omnium.
