Dogs, Skis, and Sleds – 2013 Edition of the Snowflake Skijor and Sprint Classic
March 2nd and 3rd is the annual Snowflake Skijor and Sprint Classic held at the Snowflake Nordic Ski Center in Duluth, MN. It’s a two day dog powered event organized by the Midwest Skijorers. Each team is racing against the clock with the times from each of their runs on Saturday and Sunday added together to determine the final outcome. Here is a few photos from the Saturday racing.

John “The Nemeses” Moxey vs Harley “Sandman” Kilfian
In the co-main event we saw John Moxey come back from a couple early knockdowns and earn himself what looked to be a knock out against Harly Kilfian. Unfortunately, for John Moxey the knock out was taken away as he was disqualified for ignoring the referee’s instructions as he continued to throw punches in and outside the ropes at the defenseless Harley.

Main Event
Gary “Stone Cold” Eyer vs David “Relentless” Laque
In the main event the crowded Grandma’s Sports Garden was treated to a six round battle that came down to a very close judges decision. With the three judges scoring the fight 57-55, 57-55, and 56-56 Duluth native Gary “Stone Cold” Eyer was declared the winner.

Grandma’s Sports Garden played host to amateur and professional boxing on February 1st. As the warm-up to the two professional fights the crowd saw amateur boxers ranging from young kids in the 60 lbs class up to seasoned fighters in the heavier weight classes.

Was the first Sunday in October for what had be come a true sign of fall, photographing the Twin Cities Marathon as part of the Competitive Image crew. Together the crew took over 12,000 photos. A few photos from the first annual Superior Man Triathlon held in downtown Duluth. The athlete’s jumped in the harbor off the Vista Star for the swim leg, the cycling leg took them through downtown on their way to Two Harbors before returning on scenic highway 61, and the final running leg saw them do multiple laps around Canal and Bayfront Parks.
